DOT MATRIX PRINTER INSTRUCTIONS:
Determine from your printer's documentation whether to print
envelopes in portrait or landscape orientation. Open the
Printing Defaults dialog under Winvelope's Option menu and
set the orientation accordingly.
Select the Business #10 envelope size template and then select
'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu. Set the margins
initially as follows: (Values in inches)
Return Top: 0
Return Left: 0
Addressee Top: 1.8
Addressee Left: 4.0
Message Top: 3.0
Message Left: 0
FIM Top: 0
FIM Left: 6.4
Bar Code Top: 3.5
Bar Code Left: 4.9
Examine the diagram showing the correct location of POSTNET bar
codes in Winvelope's Help menu. Print an envelope and adjust the
margin settings as necessary to obtain the desired effect. Set
the margins for other envelope sizes in the same manner.
Other instructions for dot matrix printers:
You should disable your printer's 'out of paper' alarm,
otherwise it will interrupt the printing prior to
completion. Depending on the brand and model of printer,
disabling the 'out of paper' may be accomplished by dip
switches, control buttons, etc. (check your printer
manual). As a last resort for printers that do not
provide a means of disabling, you may have to tape over
the sensor lever located behind the platen.
You should chose a print resolution that is equal or close
to the same value in both the vertical and horizontal
direction, (ie, 240x240 will often give better results
than 240x360).
If you have a 9 pin printer, select 'lighter' as the bar
code intensity in the Printing Defaults dialog. If you
have a 24 pin printer, select 'normal' intensity.
These tips have been provided by other users of this type printer,
if you have additional tips or what you feel is a more convenient
setup for this printer, please fax to the author or upload them to
this BBS. Thank you.
